چکیده
A new two-body interaction is derived for nuclei in a large part of the 0flp shell by fitting two-body matrix elements to 494 energy levels in A = 41-66 nuclei. For the shell-model basis a 4°Ca core and a model space consisting of 0~/2 ( lp3/20fs/2 lpl/2)m + 0~7~1 ( lp3/20f5/2 lpl/2) l+ra configurations was assumed. By varying 40 linear combinations of matrix elements and fixing those that are not well-determined to values of a previously determined starting interaction, an r.m.s deviation between fitted and experimental energies of 193 keV has been achieved. An excellent reproduction of low-lying energy levels, and the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments for the ground states as well as some excited states, is obtained with the new interaction. Further calculations with the new interaction also suggest that it is a valuable extension to the region of nuclei far from stability and to the mass regions currently of astrophysical interest.

متن کاملThree-nucleon interactions: A frontier in nuclear structure
Three-nucleon interactions are a frontier in understanding and predicting the structure of strongly-interacting matter in laboratory nuclei and in the cosmos. We present results and discuss the status of first calculations with microscopic three-nucleon interactions beyond light nuclei. This coherent effort is possible due to advances based on effective field theory and renormalization group me...

Nonlocal coordinate space optical potentials for the scattering of 65 MeV protons from nuclei ranging in mass from 6 Li to 238 U have been defined by folding a complex, medium dependent effective interaction with the density matrix elements of each target. The effective interaction is based upon solutions of the Lippmann–Schwinger and Brueckner–Bethe–Goldstone equations having the Paris potenti...
متن کاملSuperfluidity with dressed nucleons
The gap equation with dressed propagators is solved in symmetric nuclear matter. Nucleon self-energies are obtained within the self-consistent in medium T matrix approximation. The off-shell gap equation is compared to an effective quasiparticle gap equation with reduced interaction. At normal density, we find a reduction of the superfluid gap from 6.5MeV to 0.45MeV when self-energy effects are...
متن کاملConstraining the neutron-proton effective mass splitting in neutron-rich matter
One of the most fundamental properties characterizing the propagation of a nucleon in nuclear medium is its effective mass[1, 2, 3]. The latter describes to leading order the effects related to the non-locality of the underlying nuclear effective interactions and the Pauli exchange effects in many-fermion systems. In neutron-rich matter, an interesting new question arises as to whether the effe...
